Woodley Goju Ryu Karate Club is a friendly and welcoming club dedicated to teaching the traditional Okinawan Martial Arts of Goju Ryu Karate.

We will teach you to develop these fundamental martial arts principles:

  • Fitness, Flexibility, Stamina, Confidence and Self-Defence skills. 

  • How to say "No" to unhealthy peer pressure.

  • How to have the ability to defeat the bully without necessarily fighting.

  • Integrity, Courtesy, Indomitable Spirit, Humility and Respect for yourself and others. 

  • To gain respect through kindness and consideration of others.

  • Peaceful resolution to conflicts and learn to control ourselves.

  • To develop hard working and well balanced people.

  • Teach life skills and character development through comprehensive syllabuses.

Independent studies have shown that Okinawan Martial Arts improves mental focus, increases attention span and also makes people more aware and alert as well as developing effective self-defence skills. The strength of a person is not measured by his fighting or beating an opponent, but the ability not to fight even when faced with challenging situations.
